1933 Lounge - Carmel, Indiana

Custom Outdoor Bar & Dining Seating by Sika Design

1933 Lounge Project

Designed by Shea for Huse Culinary, 1933 Lounge in Carmel, IN reimagines the storied legacy of St. Elmo into a richly atmospheric dining destination just outside Indianapolis. While the interior leans into layered glamour and controlled drama, the outdoor bar and dining terrace offers a more relaxed extension of the experience, where bistro-style dining and casual bar moments unfold in an open-air setting.

On the covered patio, Sika Design’s custom outdoor seating helps shape the rhythm of bistro dining and bar culture along the terrace. The woven chairs and bar stools introduce graphic contrast against the neutral brick architecture, creating a sense of movement and approachability that supports casual meals, drinks at the bar, and lingering conversations. A bespoke chevron pattern, developed specifically for the project, adds visual identity and texture, grounding the outdoor space in a material language that feels intentional yet relaxed.

Rather than acting as background elements, the seating plays an active role in defining how guests move through the bistro dining and bar areas. The scale and silhouettes support flexible groupings around small tables and along the bar, encouraging easy circulation and social flow. These outdoor moments balance the lounge’s more dramatic interior with a lighter, more approachable hospitality experience.

Through customization and material expression, Sika Design’s outdoor seating translates the project’s layered design language into an open-air environment built for bistro dining, bar culture, and everyday use, creating a patio experience that feels cohesive, welcoming, and distinctly its own.
