Tucked along the banks of the Kiawah River, The Dunlin captures a slower rhythm of coastal living. Just outside Charleston on Johns Island, this retreat invites guests to settle into the quiet beauty of the Lowcountry, where marshland stretches wide, the air carries salt and sun, and time softens around you.
Designed by HPG, the outdoor spaces lean into that ease, balancing structure with softness. Poolside, the setting becomes a place to linger. Morning light, afternoon swims, and evenings that unfold naturally.
At the center of the pool area, the Josephine Sunbed is arranged for both comfort and view. Framed in Sika Design’s AluRattan, it brings the look of natural rattan with the durability needed for outdoor use. Lightweight yet sturdy, the material is built to withstand sun, humidity, and coastal conditions without losing its visual warmth.
Soft cushions in muted green tones reflect the surrounding landscape, pulling in the hues of marsh grass and palms just beyond the water. Paired with scalloped umbrellas overhead, the space feels tailored yet relaxed. A quiet nod to classic resort living with a distinctly coastal sensibility.
Just beyond the pool, a covered lounge offers a more grounded place to settle in. Framed by striped drapery and softened with woven textures and greenery, the space balances structure with ease while maintaining a strong connection to the outdoors.
Paired loungers anchor the setting, creating a comfortable place to recline, while upright seating introduces flexibility for conversation and longer stays. The Monet Chair Exterior adds dimension to the layout, supporting a mix of postures and use throughout the day.
Within the space, smaller moments begin to take shape. Tucked alongside the seating, the Carlo Bar Cart Exterior brings a functional layer to the space. Designed for outdoor use and easy movement, it keeps refreshments within reach without interrupting the flow.
From morning coffee to late afternoon cocktails, it supports the natural rhythm of gathering. Nothing formal, just an extension of the environment and the experience.
Across each setting, Sika Design’s outdoor materials are made for environments like this. AluRattan paired with ArtFibre is engineered to resist UV exposure, moisture, and temperature shifts.
The result is furniture that not only complements the landscape, but is built to live within it season after season.
At The Dunlin, outdoor living is the experience. From sunlit pool decks to shaded corners meant for conversation, every detail supports a way of living shaped by nature, comfort, and connection.
A place to pause, unwind, and return to.
