Khâluna Restaurant - Minneapolis, Minnesota

Tropical Warmth at Khâluna Restaurant in Minneapolis

Located in Minneapolis’ Lyndale neighborhood, Khâluna blends vibrant Laotian-inspired cuisine with an interior designed to feel warm, layered, and transportive. Designed by Shea Design, the restaurant combines natural materials, woven textures, soft architectural curves, and ambient lighting to create a hospitality space that feels both elevated and welcoming.

Throughout the restaurant, Sika Design seating helps reinforce the relaxed tropical atmosphere while adding texture and warmth to the overall interior palette. Woven details, natural finishes, and organic forms work together to soften the space and complement the restaurant’s hospitality-focused design approach.

In the bar area, the Rossini Side Chair and Salsa counter stool introduce handcrafted woven texture alongside warm wood tones and softly illuminated shelving details. The combination creates an inviting environment that encourages guests to settle into the space while maintaining the refined aesthetic carried throughout the restaurant.

Large woven pendant lighting and layered natural materials continue throughout the dining room, helping define the atmosphere while keeping the interior feeling relaxed and approachable. Tropical greenery and curved architectural details further contribute to the restaurant’s immersive design experience.

The main dining room features the Alanis Side Chair, whose woven detailing and lighter finish pair naturally with the soft wood tones and warm flooring used throughout the interior. The seating helps maintain the airy, welcoming character of the restaurant while supporting the layered material palette developed by Shea Design.

Rather than relying on bold visual contrast, the interior focuses on texture, warmth, and cohesion. Woven seating, natural materials, and ambient lighting work together to create a space that feels calm, comfortable, and deeply hospitality-driven.

Khâluna is a strong example of how woven furniture and natural materials can shape the overall dining experience. Through thoughtful layering and a hospitality-focused approach, Shea Design created a restaurant interior that feels inviting, transportive, and connected to the warmth of the cuisine itself.
